Internationalisation, growing technology and their development increasingly influence education in society. This also increases the need for managing education and learning. The significance of education management is becoming apparent in schools, entire education systems and other areas. The management of education and knowledge is therefore becoming an important factor of control in national systems and organisations in all areas of social life.
Globalisation, along with other processes, such as decentralisation, deregulation, autonomy and professionalism, open the question of the international comparability and effectiveness of education systems, the role of the state, and thereby create the demands for a new kind of organisation within schools and school systems. Accordingly, the need for effective administration and management of educational organisations, especially to achieve a greater responsiveness, flexibility and innovativeness of organisations in a rapidly changing environment – where employees represent an important resource and potential – is growing steadily.
Various studies on the success and effectiveness of schools and education systems have shown that the quality of management and organisation is the most important variable influencing the success and/or failure in schools or national education systems. By introducing new forms of school financing, new demands regarding the training and education of leadership staff and professionals in the fields of economy, law, management and business keep emerging.
Objectives
IJMIE aims to publish papers which analyse all aspects of international education, providing researchers and professionals from education with the opportunity to discuss the most demanding issues regarding the development and leadership of education at all levels and in all areas of education management. Similarly, it is interested in how international or intercultural questions can produce problems which are ethical in nature or which have ethical consequences with regard to the management in education. Readership
Professionals, academics, researchers, managers, policy makers, and nonprofit organisations. Contents
IJMIE publishes original and review papers, technical reports, case studies, conference reports, management reports, book reviews, and notes, commentaries, and news. Contribution may be by submission or invitation, and suggestions for special issues and publications are welcome.
