IJSEM proposes and fosters discussion on empirical and theoretical work on services economics and management. The journal seeks to provide a bridge between those conducting research on service economics and management on the one hand, and those working in the areas of service sectors on the other.
IJSEM is an Open Access-only journal and article processing charges (APCs) apply.

Objectives
The objectives of IJSEM are to encourage original scientific contributions on the challenges of economic and management issues in service sectors, with particular emphasis on the application of economic theory and management science and methods of quantitative analysis. It aims to draw together and learn lessons from the development of service sectors across the world, and provides a forum for discussion of service sectors of interest to an international readership.
Readership
IJSEM provides a vehicle to help professionals, academics, researchers and policy makers to disseminate information and to learn from each other's work. It is aimed at all practitioners and researchers in service sectors. It will also be of interest to anyone involved in provision of service programmes, the management of service organisations and those who contribute to service systems in any way.
Contents
IJSEM publishes original papers, reviews and short reports on all aspects of the economics, management science, and qualitative and quantitative methods used to study economic and management issues of the service sector.

- Submitted articles should not have been previously published or be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.
- Conference papers may only be submitted if the paper has been completely re-written (more details available here) and the author has cleared any necessary permissions with the copyright owner if it has been previously copyrighted.
- Briefs and research notes are not published in this journal.
- All our articles go through a double-blind review process.
- All authors must declare they have read and agreed to the content of the submitted article. A full statement of our Ethical Guidelines for Authors (PDF) is available.
- This is an Open Access-only journal. There is an article processing charge of EUR 1700 to publish in this journal. You can find more information on Open Access here. Authors who have submitted articles prior to 23 May 2025 will still have a choice of publishing as a standard or an Open Access article. For authors who have submitted articles prior to 1 March 2026, the previous charge of USD $1600 applies.

Emotional support from parents and teachers can play an important role in how satisfied students feel with university life in Pakistan, according to research in the International Journal of Services, Economics and Management based on a survey of almost 600 undergraduates. The study suggests that encouragement and understanding from family and faculty do more than provide comfort: they appear to strengthen students' psychological resources in ways that make campus life more manageable and rewarding for them.
