Abstract: The growth of the competence in the e-marketplace has led professionals and academics to make efforts in order to determine the key factors for achieving a successful e-store. The web design has been identified as a critical issue. However, there is a lack of agreement about which guidelines must be followed to achieve homogeneous standards in the design of the websites. This study explores the key factors that influence the websites' success focusing on the web design. A heuristic analysis allowed us to identify the critical aspects and to offer managerial implications in order for designers to get an effective website.
