Abstract: The growth of the competence in the e-marketplace has led professionals and academics to make efforts in order to determine the key factors for achieving a successful e-store. The web design has been identified as a critical issue. However, there is a lack of agreement about which guidelines must be followed to achieve homogeneous standards in the design of the websites. This study explores the key factors that influence the websites| success focusing on the web design. A heuristic analysis allowed us to identify the critical aspects and to offer managerial implications in order for designers to get an effective website.
