  • Bonding tactics in Brazilian accounting companies: extending the traditional three-dimension framework   Order a copy of this article
by Alex Eckert, Elisa Soares, Marlei Salete Mecca, Gobinda Roy
Abstract: This study analyses the perceptions of small and medium-sized Brazilian enterprises that outsource their accounting activities to professional accounting service providers regarding the use of bonding tactics as drivers of customer retention. A generic qualitative approach was adopted, based on in-depth individual interviews with managers of Brazilian small and medium-sized enterprises. The results indicate that, among the dimensions defined a priori, social bonding emerges as the most influential tactic in fostering long-term customer relationships, enhancing trust, and strengthening relationship continuity. In addition, some aspects identified by the interviewees could not be classified within the three previously established dimensions, suggesting the need to incorporate an additional dimension, referred to in this study as the technical-functional dimension. These findings extend the traditional bonding tactics framework by suggesting the inclusion of a technical-functional dimension, particularly relevant in knowledge-intensive professional services. Consistent with the commitment-trust perspective of relationship marketing, the study demonstrates that customer retention in accounting services is primarily driven by the combined effects of social and technical-functional bonding tactics, which reinforce trust and long-term relational commitment.

by Sradhanjali Samal, Saurabh Gupta, Nidhi Mathur
Abstract: Investment decisions are highly complex and hence requires a thorough understanding of the factors governing human behaviour. Uncertainty further compounds this problem. Investors rationality is the cornerstone of traditional finance theory. However, there is a significant influence of psychological and behavioural factors on rationale investment decision. The study aims to examine the role of personality traits and motivational orientations in shaping investors investment decision. The study uses convenience sampling method to collect the data from 345 respondents and the hypothesised relationships have been tested using Structure Equation Modelling. The findings reveal that personality traits influence investment decision. Prevention focus enhances investment decision while promotion focus shows a negative impact. The study enriches the existing literature by uniquely integrates personality traits, motivational constructs and investment decision within a single framework.
