IJIIM is a fully refereed journal which publishes papers analysing all aspects of international and intercultural issues with regard to information management. IJIIM welcomes all scholastic research addressing how international or intercultural questions can produce information systems/information technology (IS/IT) related problems, which may involve changing management concepts, modelling, methodologies, and business process engineering/re-engineering as well as ethical and security concerns.

For decades, our cultural background, ethical stance and national considerations such as law, currency, management philosophy, security concerns, etc., affect the way we use information systems. At the same time, the use of information systems/information technology (IS/IT) changes the way we interact, do business and communicate changes which in turn may impact businesses with different cultural backgrounds in significantly different ways. Because of cultural and national differences, an information system that works perfectly in one place may not work at all in another, or identical systems may find completely different uses in different cultures.

Objectives

The main objectives of IJIIM are to promote the research and practice of new strategies, tools, techniques and technologies for the design, development and implementation of IS/IT involving intercultural deviations. This will help improve the effectiveness of using IS/IT in service and manufacturing industries around the world. IJIIM aims to establish an effective channel of communication between academic educators, information systems workers, managers, industry consultants, and practitioners to contribute, disseminate and learn from each other’s work. The global dimension is emphasised to overcome cultural and national barriers and to meet the accelerating technological changes and changes in global economy. IJIIM acts as a forum for exchanging innovative ideas and sharing research and practical experiences in intercultural information management.

Readership

IJIIM provides a forum to help professionals, academics, researchers, practitioners and policy makers, working in the field of intercultural information management, to discuss the important ideas, concepts and disseminate information and to learn from each other’s work. Readers will have the opportunity to learn future direction in using IS/IT to improve effectiveness of intercultural information man agent.

Contents

IJIIM publishes original papers, review papers, technical reports, case studies, conference reports, management reports, state-of-the-art reviews, and technical notes. Special Issues devoted to important topics in Intercultural Information Management will occasionally be published.

Subject Coverage

Papers are solicited that address these issues from an empirical and/or conceptual point of view. The topics of interest to IJIIM include but not limit to:

Differing cultural perceptions of ethical, privacy, security problems
Case studies of all IS/IT related issues in different countries
The influence of corporate culture on normative aspects of IS/IT
The relationship of national and corporate culture on all IS/IT related issues
The role of various IS/IT theories with regards to an internationally acceptable criteria
Comparison of IS/IT theories with regards to cultural determinants of IS/IT use
Intercultural/international moralities and IS/IT
The international or intercultural acceptability/enforceability of codes of ethics
Culturally divergent perceptions of management of IS/IT
Risk management in intercultural information system
Project management for intercultural information systems design and development
Changing IS/IT management philosophy due to cultural variation
Intercultural e-commerce design, development, and management
Intercultural supply chain management
Intercultural customer relationship management
Intercultural decision support systems
Business intelligence in intercultural environment
Intercultural issues of business process engineering/reengineering
Software engineering with intercultural concerns
Educational and training in intercultural information management
Innovation in intercultural information management – concepts, research framework, applications
Quality issues in intercultural information systems/technology management
Specific Notes for Authors
Submitted papers should not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. (N.B. Conference papers may only be submitted if the paper was not originally copyrighted and if it has been completely re-written).
