Special Issue on: "Planning and Control in Robotics"

Guest Editors: Dr. Yong Yue, Prof. Carsten Maple and Dr. Dayou Li, University of Bedfordshire, UK

Robots have been increasingly used in areas such as space navigation and exploration, hazard handling, rescue work, medicine and home care. The new generation of robots are more sophisticated, accurate, mobile, intelligent and autonomous. Robot planning and control has become demanding and challenging, and has motivated significant research and technological development in the areas of control, computing, communications and mechatronics.

This special issue will focus on novel robot planning and control methodologies and the applications of robots to new and challenging areas.

Subject Coverage
Relevant topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Intelligent robots
  • Mobile robots and robot navigation and exploration
  • Robot motion planning and optimisation
  • Autonomous robots and multi-agent systems
  • Adaptive control
  • Predictive control
  • Identification and image processing
  • Design and control of non-conventional robots
  • Applications of robots
