Special Issue on: "Micro/Nano-Precision Abrasive Machining"

In recent years, information technology equipment and devices such as laptop computers and cell phones have rapidly become popularised worldwide as a result of the advances in electronics and manufacturing technology. Abrasive machining, such as grinding and polishing, has played an essential role in the fabrication of the components used for such equipment and devices. As the demand for compact, miniaturised and multifunctional optoelectronic instruments increases, it is expected that the requirements for micro/nano precision abrasive machining of engineered components from both metallic and advanced materials will increase significantly.

The aim of this special issue of the IJAT is to compile the state-of-the-art in micro/nano-precision abrasive machining, consisting of high quality research articles in precision and ultra-precision grinding, polishing, slicing and other related processes, as well as new and advanced abrasive tools and equipment.

Subject Coverage
Suitable topics include but are not limited to:

• Fundamental studies and development in micro/nano-precision abrasive machining, including ultra-precision grinding, micro/nano-polishing, fine abrasive flow machining, etc.
• Simulation and modelling studies of micro/nano-scale abrasive processes and mechanisms.
• Micro/nano-precision abrasive machining of advanced materials such as crystals, industrial ceramics, optical glasses, composites, etc.
• Advances in magnetic/electric field- and ultrasonic-assisted micro/nano-precision abrasive processes.
• Current research and development in micro/nano-abrasive tools including ultra-fine grit grinding wheels, polishing pads, coated abrasives, abrasive belts, etc.
• Other studies related to micro/nano-precision abrasive machining.

Submitted papers should not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere
