Special issue on: “Urban Air Pollution: Problems, Control Technologies and Management Practices”

Guest Editor: Professor Mukesh Khare, University of West Indies, Trinidad & Tobago

The ever growing problem of urban air pollution has encouraged several researchers across the world to initiate research in identifying the related problems, alternative control measures and the best possible management options to curb its menace. The major challenge therefore today is recognising the growing severity of air pollution caused by industrial expansion and increasing vehicular population. This will assist urban areas in preparing action plans in addressing rapidly growing environmental problems.

It is therefore important to focus on urban air pollution problems, control technologies and management practices and also the theory and modelling of atmospheric problems from local to the global scale. The major aim is, however, to provide a scientific understanding of the consequences of natural and man made perturbations of the air atmosphere.

Subject Coverage
Original research papers or reviews are invited in the following and related areas:
  • Micro meteorological dependence air pollution levels at local and urban scales
  • Dispersion and transport of pollutant in urban air environments
  • Physical and mathematical aspects of air quality
  • Evaluation and validation of air quality models
  • Advanced air quality measurement techniques
  • Case studies on assessment of urban air quality from transport, industries and fugitives
  • Air quality and its effects; urban heat island
  • Atmospheric deposition
  • Evaluation of impacts on urban air quality
  • Policies based on recent control technology
  • Impact on air quality of alternative fuels in power plants and transportation
  • Air quality management
  • Indoor air quality and productivity; sick building syndrome
