Abstract: In this research, the intelligence of vehicle sensors is enhanced by applying advanced signal-processing techniques as smart agents. Furthermore, through the cooperation among multiple agents, the proposed approach not only improves the individual sensor's understanding of the physical driving environments, but also helps other sensors to overcome inherent limitations through a collaborative mechanism. Such information fusion is valuable for knowledge-obtaining and decision-making to construct a driving assistance system under complicated environments. An image agent and a laser-scanner agent have been successfully integrated on a golf car sensor network to prove the feasibility of the proposed approach.
