Are people willing to learn? An application of the theory of planned behaviour on adults' deeper learning

Abstract: Based on the planned behaviour theory, the study aims to investigate how personal background, attitude, perceived subjective norm and perceived behavioural control affect adult workers' intention for deeper learning. Data was collected from a Taiwanese high-tech firm (n = 512). The t-test, one-way ANOVA and canonical analysis were utilised. The results show that not only do personal factors impact the transformational process of self-awareness, but there is also significant positive correlation between the independent variables (i.e., adults' attitudes, perceived social pressures, and behavioural controls) and the dependent variables (i.e., the seven deep-learning capacities as described in Senge et al.'s U theory).
