CALL FOR PAPERS

Universita’ Bocconi announces a call for papers for the fourth European Banking Symposium, sponsored and organized by Bocconi – Carefin (Center for Applied Research in Finance) with the assistance of ProBanker Simulations and the Department of Finance of Maastricht University. The conference will be hosted at Universita’ Bocconi in Milan. Except for travel and hotel costs, all costs involved in attending the symposium are borne by the organising institutions.

The purpose of the symposium is to provide a forum for banking and finance academics and researchers to present the results of their recent research activity to a small and selected audience of their peers. The aim is to have approximately 10 presenters and an equal number of discussants during the day-and-a-half programme, with enough time for an in-depth discussion of each paper.

Potential topics for papers include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Issues in the Management and Regulation of Financial Services Firms
• management
• accounting
• governance
• strategic planning
• mergers and acquisitions
• risk management
• The consequences of Basel II
• The consequences of the new IAS/IFRS for financial institutions
• Credit risk transfer and securitization issues -- including subprime mortgage issues
• Banking education
• Asset management
