IJPSE is primarily intended as a journal of record for new developments in the application of process and product lifecycle, computing and systems technology to production processes (nuclear, energy, chemical, pharmaceutical, discrete manufacturing, and other types of production processes).
There has recently been special attention paid to process systems engineering. It is multidisciplinary research field which includes researchers from industrial engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, and information/systems engineering. It covers different production and industrial business disciplines, such as energy, chemical, petrochemical, steel, nuclear, manufacturing, marine, military, aerospace, etc.
Many current journals focus on a specific discipline, such as chemical or mechanical or industrial engineering. However, process systems engineering practices can be applied in any discipline and require collaboration between researchers from the different fields and views. Aspects such as recipe engineering, operation design and sustainability engineering can be discussed through different views covering process and product lifecycles. Design for environment and green production systems can be addressed to improve the process and/or systems used to manage the processes.
There is therefore a need to have a specialised journal in this field which can focus efforts applied to different disciplines, covering aspects of process systems engineering, lifecycle engineering and enterprise engineering, linking nano, micro and macro levels of industrial production plants.
Objectives
IJPSE is primarily intended as a journal of record for new developments in the application of process and product lifecycle, computing and systems technology to production processes (chemical, pharmaceutical, discrete manufacturing, and other types of production processes). Readership
The area of process systems engineering is a growing field that supports the process and product lifecycle. Researchers from the fields of process design, operation and control will be interested in papers from IJPSE. Industrial enterprises and engineering consulting companies will also find much of value. Contents
Papers published cover different aspects of the application of computing to one or more of the subject areas, including new applications of established methods, comparisons of alternative methodologies, descriptions of state-of-the-art industrial applications and significant computing developments targeted at training/education. Reports of software implementations must feature novel uses of state-of-the-art computing technologies.
IJPSE includes full-length articles, survey papers, journal reviews, short notes and letters to the Editor.
Subject Coverage
Suitable topics include, but are not limited to:
- Process and product synthesis, analysis and design
- Dynamic analysis and control using modelling and simulation
- Design methods for production process equipment, including batch, continuous, and discrete processes
- Development of novel numerical methods and computation practices including artificial intelligence and machine learning
- Process operations, risk management, safety engineering, maintenance engineering, reliability engineering, quality management, planning and scheduling
- Supply/production/demand chain management, integrated manufacturing systems
- Intelligent systems for process operation, fault detection, teleoperation, image processing, virtual reality, and operation decision support
- Biomass production processes design, operation and technology
- Nanoproduction processes design, operation, lifecycle systems
- Process design, and operation for sustainability and environmental issues
- Integrated control and management of industrial enterprises
- Process systems engineering practices in different production disciplines, e.g. energy, nuclear, biomedical, aerospace, food, marine, chemical, petrochemical, steel, manufacturing, military, etc.
