The development of high-throughput measurement technologies has opened a new era for modern translational medicine and personalised healthcare. The resulting availability of high-throughput data has in turn created tremendous demands for the development of computational, statistical and intelligent methods to analyse them. Such massive amounts of biomedical data and personal health data together with their analyses will obviously have a profound impact on how biomedical research and clinical treatment will be conducted toward the significant improvement of human health. Development along this track can lead to discovery of the biological mechanisms of living organisms and to the stratification of disease, the design of new medications, planning of therapy, or the initiation of a preventative measure that is particularly suited to an individual at the time of administration.

Functional informatics and personalised medicine in the new era of biomedical sciences and computational sciences are interactive disciplines that hold great promise for the advancement of cutting-edge research and development in biomedical informatics and pharmaceutical sciences. Research and advances in these two areas influence broad ranges from biomedical engineering to computer science. IJFIPM, in partnership with the International Society of Intelligent Biological Medicine, is dedicated to promoting the research, education and awareness of the two areas. IJFIPM provides a common platform for the cross-fertilisation of ideas by bridging important and complementary disciplines into an interactive and attractive forum.

Objectives

The objectives of IJFIPM are to promote dialogue among researchers from multiple disciplines and the advancement of innovative medicine, biotechnology, environmental, biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences driven by functional informatics and personalised medicine. The journal also seeks to establish an effective communication channel between government agencies and academic/research institutions.

Readership

The audience for IJFIPM consists of scientists, researchers, environmental, biomedical and pharmaceutical practitioners, academics, graduate students, medical professionals and engineers working and interested in learning about new trends in functional informatics and personalised medicine.

Contents

IJFIPM publishes original papers, application notes, review papers, case studies, conference reports, book reviews, commentaries, and news. Special Issues devoted to important research topics and major international conferences in the fields are published

Subject Coverage

IJFIPM covers many important areas in functional informatics and personalised medicine, ranging from individual gene’s impact on a disease and a bioinformatics software tool, to holistic view of human system and IT infrastructure in medicine. This includes biomedical informatics, health informatics, translational bioinformatics, systems biology, chemical informatics, biomedical imaging, biomedical database, biomedical data mining, customized medicine, traditional medicine, and alternative medicine. Conference papers may only be submitted if the paper has been completely re-written and the author has cleared any necessary permissions with the copyright owner if it has been previously copyrighted).
