International Journal of Agile and Extreme Software Development (IJAESD) ISSN (Online): 1743-5145 - ISSN (Print): 1743-5137 Published in 4 issues per year (View Subscription Price) IJAESD is a fully refereed journal covering the general field of agile and extreme programming. Agile software development methods and solutions aim to propose a new style of developing software and have drawn significant attention in the software industry in recent years.
Agile methodologies have shown scientific and practical evidence of increased productivity, better quality and increased customer satisfaction regarding software projects. This new approach to software development gives a new paradigm in programming methodologies to organisations and companies that are searching for smaller, faster and cheaper software. Agile methodologies try to reduce risk by developing software in small iterations. Each iteration includes planning, requirements analysis, design, coding, testing and documentation to release a new functionality. An agile software project proposes to be able of releasing new software at the end of every iteration.
One of the first agile methodologies was developed in the late 90s and was coined as 'Extreme Programming (XP)'. Other examples of agile processes include SCRUM, Feature Driven Development, Agile Modelling, and Crystal Clear. One of the main premises behind XP is that it is a more pragmatic way of adapting to changing requirements at any point during the lifecycle of a software project than trying to define all requirements at the beginning of a project.
Agile approaches have already changed software development processes and the way software is developed, taking the industry in the direction of lean, simple, and adaptable development methodologies. Additionally, agile methodologies are moving into new industries, such as the embedded systems, safety-critical products and other complex development environments.
Objectives
The objectives of IJAESD are to bring together both industrial practitioners and researchers and to promote the research and practice of agile methodologies and extreme software development. The topics will stress practical applications and implications of agile methodologies, new openings, domains and insights. Readership
IJAESD is a forum to help professionals, academics, researchers and practitioners working in the field of software development to discuss important ideas, concepts, methodologies, and to disseminate information and learn from each other’s work. Contents
