Mechatronic systems are increasingly being used in industry, especially in vehicle engineering, to improve existing functions with pure mechanical systems. Meeting traffic regulations and customer requirements is only possible through the increased use of mechatronic systems, especially in the fields of driving and safety. Mechatronic systems require a coupling design of mechanical, electronic, hydraulic, and control subsystems. The modelling and simulation of engineering problems is an active research field with a long history and plays a key role in the research and development of mechatronic systems.

This special issue is intended to present new and original research related to the modelling and simulation of complex mechatronic systems.
