Global competitiveness, in a general way, has been stimulating industry to create and to develop integrated products in a competitive cost and in the least possible time. To achieve these aims, it is necessary to have experience and knowledge in different areas of engineering which can be obtained through the integration of competences related to the product engineering, manufacturing engineering, suppliers and consumers, among others.

In this context, the supply chain plays an important part in the product conception and development process as it allows the manufacturing organization to operate in an integrated manner. This special issue aims to develop discussion about the different ways in which the supply chain can support the development of integrated products. The issue will accept theoretical works that are based on practical experience, analysis of case studies or experimental results.
