 Call For papers Special Issue on: "The Middle East Capital Markets and Investment Issues"

Sergi, University of Messina, Italy While the Middle East capital markets in the midst of a massive overhaul, it must be admitted that relatively little research has been done in the past on the region's capital market sector. After the recent financial crisis which originated in U.S., and its global ramifications, the issue of risk spillover across capital markets is expected to gain momentum and become the subject matter of much research in the financial economic literature in coming years.
It is becoming evident to many observers and researchers that the Middle East markets have overreacted to the events in U.S. capital markets as the impact on these markets was quite substantial compared to the economic value of information transmitted to these markets. The aim in this issue to instigate debate at an international level between academics and professional practitioners on the region's capital markets, to help guide policy makers in the Middle East region and facilitate new opportunities for international investors.
 Subject Coverage
This special issue aims to attract high-quality, applied and/or theoretical research papers focusing on issues relevant to the Middle East capital markets. The research will focus on, but is not limited to, the following:
- Stock markets research
- Corporate governance
- Banking research
- Issues on Basel II accord
- Trade and investment issues
- Bond market research
- Micro finance and small enterprise development
- Foreign exchange issues
Notes for Prospective Authors
Submitted papers should not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. (N.B. Conference papers may only be submitted if the paper was not originally copyrighted and if it has been completely re-written).
