Soft computing is the use of approximate calculations to provide imprecise but usable solutions to complex computational problems. Applying such an approach enables solutions for problems that may be either unsolvable or just too time-consuming to solve with current hardware/software. Such solutions, due to their excellent performance, can be applied to practical applications in the real world, such as big data analysis, Internet of thing (IoT), smart grids, cybersecurity, and distributed and cloud networks. This special issue aims to solicit cutting-edge research contributions regarding applied soft computing on parallel and parallel and distributed systems.

The issue will carry revised and substantially extended versions of selected papers presented at the 10th International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems, but we are also inviting other experts to submit articles for this call.

Subject Coverage
Suitable topics include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Large-scale optimisation models and algorithms in big data
  • Hybrid optimisation approaches for (mobile) cloud computing
  • Neural computation for energy-efficient networks and services in IoT
  • Applied soft computing models and training algorithms for big data analysis
  • Applied soft computing models and training algorithms for smart grid/micro grid management
  • Deep learning and machine learning for parallel and distributed systems
  • Meta-heuristic algorithms for edge/fog computing Applied soft computing models and training algorithms for big data analytic in secure systems

Notes for Prospective Authors

Submitted papers should not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. (N.B. Conference papers may only be submitted if the paper has been completely re-written and if appropriate written permissions have been obtained from any copyright holders of the original paper).

All papers are refereed through a peer review process.

All papers must be submitted online. To submit a paper, please read our Submitting articles page.
