Special Issue on: "Political Systems: the Drivers of Tourism Policy"

Guest Editor:
Amitabh Upadhya, Skyline University College, UAE

This special issue invites research papers on political, economic, social, cultural or environmental policy commands that chart the course of tourism development in a country or destination.

The objective of the issue is to assess the role of political influence on policy formulation in regard to tourism development and its merits/demerits. Questions regarding the forms and formats of governance having impact on tourism policies may also be raised. Studies focusing on and highlighting tourism policy initiatives or the lack thereof will also be considered.

Papers should focus on the symbiotic relationship between the organisation of tourism and the political system of the destination country. Contributions in either the form of research papers or case studies are welcome.

The issue will carry revised and substantially extended versions of selected papers presented at the International Conference on Tourism 2015, but we also strongly encourage researchers unable to participate in the conference to submit articles for this call.
