High non-linear interaction between different product and process components involved during delivery and services has led to increased system complexity. For example, product globalisation coupled with shorter lead times, product customisation and safety requirements has created very high non-linear dynamics between the product, process and delivery systems which need to be taken into account by manufacturers or service providers to sustain in the market.

Similarly, in healthcare, domain services are affected by changes in population demography, technological and medical advancements, and other factors which in turn affect the paradigms of health and social care systems worldwide.

This special issue invites quality papers describing original work, case studies or new findings related to solving complex system problems from, but not limited to, the domains of product design, manufacturing, services, healthcare delivery systems, logistics and supply chains using intelligent approaches from OR, data mining, machine learning and simulation domains.
