Abstract/Summary: The paper extends the research proposed at PLM09 with application of the technology of smart environment to PLM. Smart environment is defined here as a number of devices that can share information and services independently of their physical location. This opens new opportunities for design and product information capture. The information can be captured at any stage of the product lifecycle thus enabling democratized innovation, which stands for involving consumers into the process of developing products they use. The paper proposes a conceptual model based on the service-oriented architecture (SOA) for using the technology of smart environment for PLM support.
