    Abstract: Vaccination is a critical element of the healthcare service delivery in a developing country and it requires appropriate work systems for efficiency and effectiveness. Information is however sparse on the level of application of work system design principles to vaccination processes in Nigeria. The study was designed to maximize personnel utilization within an existing vaccination work system in a major teaching hospital. Operations involved in quality vaccination service were identified. The work sampling technique was used to determine the amount of work content available at each operation unit of the clinic. From the analysis done, it was concluded that the optimal number of workers needed in a vaccination unit with 32123.69 man-hours of work annually is 23:20 operation positions, 2 supervisors and 1 management staff. This information will help to prevent over or under loading of personnel and reducing patients waiting time at the clinic.
