Special Issue on: "Technological Transformations in Open and Innovative Education in the Mobile Era"

Openness and innovation are major trends in contemporary education, influencing the whole spectrum of education institutions across the globe. At the same time, open and innovative education is being transformed by technological advancements and breakthroughs in the mobile era. Modes of learning and teaching are becoming more open and innovative in terms of time, space, curriculum contents, organisation, pedagogical methods, infrastructure and requirements. This change does not only happen in open universities, but also conventional tertiary institutions, as well as schools. The rapid developments of massive open online courses and academic analytics are examples that well manifest the global trend of technology use in open and innovative learning. In this special issue, educational experts and researchers are invited to share their ideas, practices and research findings on how open and innovative education has been, and will be, transformed by technological developments.

Notes for Prospective Authors

Submitted papers should not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. (N.B. Conference papers may only be submitted if the paper has been completely re-written and if appropriate written permissions have been obtained from any copyright holders of the original paper).

All papers are refereed through a peer review process.
