Abstract: Social and economic dynamics can be considered the evidences of the ways in which different systems interact in order to share the available information. By building upon this assumption, the paper aims to enrich previous knowledge management studies by analysing conditions and pathways that affect the information sharing among systems. In such a line, the interpretative lens of systems thinking is adopted to investigate the mechanisms and rules on which the knowledge society is based. Three propositions are derived by applying systems thinking in knowledge management studies and they are analysed both from theoretical and practical point of view.

Keywords: information sharing; knowledge management; systems thinking.
