Abstract: In motorcycle engineering, various equipment and design features have been developed so that riders may experience the total performance of their machines with a greater degree of pleasure owing to their riding comfort. In the area of engine development, such features as reduced engine vibration, improved operation of automatic transmissions, and the application or new types of final drive system may now be found in modern motorcycles. Some of the highlights of contemporary motorcycles have been the improvements in handling and stability and the development of chassis components such as tyres, suspension systems and brakes. These design features are introduced in this paper and illustrated by examples.
