Abstract: As more and more businesses are using knowledge intensive service systems (KISS) to deliver their services, software developers need to rise to the challenge to develop KISS that not only can deliver the service required by the businesses, but also can deliver the service with good quality. Quality of service (QoS) should be an ultimate goal for KISS. In this paper, we first provide an overview of a set of key QoS requirements for service-oriented software systems. We then describe how these QoS requirements are supported by software mechanisms. The overall aim of this paper is to introduce QoS requirements to the development of KISS.

Keywords: knowledge-intensive service systems; KISS; quality of service; QoS; quality requirements; service-oriented software systems.
