Abstract: Biotechnology has been rapidly developing over the last 15 years. Its advantages in many medical and pharmaceutical domains are now obvious. Biotechnological microsystems are now widely encountered in the field of diagnostics, healthcare, life science and environment. This text relates a selection of developments performed at the CEA/LETI, in the Department of Biotechnology and Life Sciences. This selection encompasses digital microfluidic systems for DNA detection and identification, proteomic reactors, liquid-liquid extraction and smart tissues.

Keywords: biotechnology; diagnostics; healthcare; life sciences; environment; digital microfluidics; DNA detection; proteomic reactors; liquid-liquid extraction; smart tissues; nanotechnology.
