Abstract: Previous studies have shown that knowledge creation is becoming a core competency, and technology issues have to be incorporated into corporate strategy in a new way. However, there is a lack of an appropriate framework which would allow practitioners to trace the value migration among different types of technology. This paper, by introducing an innovative technology-component matrix, aims to bridge the knowledge transformation process and value-added activities, so as to scrutinise business strategy from a different perspective.

Keywords: technology-component matrix; knowledge transformation chain; value net.
