Abstract: The aim is to trigger a discussion about developments in the field of corporate culture and to stress the needs and directions of further research. Two major questions are considered: |What do we know about the relationship between corporate culture and national culture?| and |What has been learned about the cultural features of a strong corporate culture?| The review shows that progress has been made in organisational culture research. Yet if we want to move forward, we must not only build on existing research trying to fit it into the current frameworks but be willing to take greater steps and ensure that we capture the full complexity of the phenomenon.

Keywords: corporate culture; national culture; performance; organisational learning; organisational culture.
