Title: University-industry cooperation in Eastern Europe: the experience of some advanced universities in the USSR

Abstract: The paper describes the various forms of university-industry cooperation in the USSR and Eastern European countries, as reflected by the experience of advanced universities. These forms of cooperation include special facilities for retraining engineers, refresher courses, topical seminars, joint research pilot projects, involvement of students in research projects and consultancy activities. The role of continuing education in such cooperative activities is also examined.
