Abstract: Historically, all civilizations devoted the best part of their technologies, resources and infrastructure to satisfy communication needs. The word communication will be considered here both as information transmission and physical movements; in other words, information transmission and physical movements will be considered as two aspects of the same necessity of interaction. In this paper, the rapid evolution of interaction technologies and some of the differences between transportation and telecommunication costs are summarised. Moreover major trends and future possible opportunities of applying technologies in transport and telecommunication are provided.

Keywords: mobility; communication; technology evolution.
