Abstract: The following article explores the use of a hybrid model of analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and interpretive structural modelling (ISM) technique for identification, ranking and modelling of various enablers in micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Identification of enablers and their criteria was accomplished by rigorous literature survey of the available literature and consultation from a combined panel of experts from academia and industry. The process was accentuated by the ranking of enablers identified, using results of survey sheets circulated amongst the panel members depicting a subjective opinion of rankings. The cumulative results of the survey sheets were quantified in the final form using the AHP technique. The complex interrelationship amongst the various enablers is represented in a comprehensive manner using the ISM technique. The hybrid Fuzzy-AHP-ISM model can be used by industries to identify the key techniques to be focused while adapting the lean manufacturing methods in their operations.
