Title: Behavioural courage and its effect on innovative work behaviour of public sector employees: the role of managerial position and gender

Abstract: To be creative, employees need to take risks and to take risks, courage plays an important role. This study examined the relationship between behavioural courage and innovative work behaviour and also explored the possible effects of managerial level and gender on this relationship. Data were collected from 273 employees working at different managerial levels in public sector organisations of Pakistan. The results showed that behavioural courage was positively associated with innovative work behaviour. We found that managerial level moderated the effects of behavioural courage on innovative work behaviour. Our results also revealed moderating effect of gender on the association between behavioural courage and innovative work behaviour. Implications of these findings and future directions are discussed.
