International Journal of Computer Applications in Technology (IJCAT), Vol. 11, No. 3/4/5, 1998

Abstract: In this paper an insight into the problem of the 'sliding-valve' effect is discussed for general industrial applications. The 'curved-pipe' effect is also considered for applications in two-stroke engines. The background to the treatment of variable openings for two-stroke engines is reviewed. A novel method for a moving mesh is presented in the simulation of a changing geometry with variable openings using a multi-dimensional CFD code. The results of applying this model to direct-fuel-injection two-stroke engines are presented.
