Abstract: In this paper, the finite element model of a household washing machine is built. The dynamic analysis of the washing machine is treated using the ABAQUS finite element code. The analysis is mainly concerned with the washing machine in the status of spin. The results of modal analysis and transient dynamic response analysis are presented. On the basis of the dynamic analysis of the washing machine, design optimisation is performed with the structural parameters of the washing machine as design variables and the dynamic response as the objective function. The simulated annealing algorithm is used in the optimisation procedure which results in a better design with smaller vibration and noise.
