The internationalisation of entrepreneurship in South Korea
by Hwy-Chang Moon, Lorna Geddis
International Journal of Globalisation and Small Business (IJGSB), Vol. 3, No. 3, 2009

Abstract: Given the current world financial crisis, the focus on Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) development is more critical then ever. This long-overdue article delves into the SME environment of South Korea. By critically examining the current government policy and the kind of environment that government policy is fostering, it is discovered that Korean SMEs face difficulty in internationalising their operations and, therefore, are not developing to their fullest potential. The implications include the need for the continued development of government policy and assisting institutions, a focus shift to more high-tech industries and the need to develop an effective framework to assist in SME internationalisation.
