International Journal of Intelligent Enterprise (IJIE), Vol. 1, No. 2, 2009

Abstract: In this comparative analysis espousing resource-based view and contemporary research in intellectual capital, two groups of emerging technology-based companies respectively from the semiconductor and wireless application sectors were selected to review their pattern of capital allocations during their early years of growth and development. An intellectual capital flow framework was introduced to examine the interrelationship between financial capital and components of intellectual capital exemplifying conversion of external resources into enablers for organic growth within a technology-based company. Under such framework, statistical analysis was launched to explore the predictability of resource allocation for components of intellectual capital to generation of business growth among these enterprises that harnessed emerging technologies. The results suggested that particular combination of heterogeneous resources demonstrated through intellectual capital flow would construct positive impact on organic growth in time.
