The green synthesis of gold nanoparticles using fruits and by-products

Abstract: Nanotechnology is a promising field that has gained interest because of its broad spectrum of applications. Nanotechnology is the precisely tampering of substances on the nanoscale (1 nm-100 nm). Among the nanoparticles of the noble metals, gold has gained interest due to its unique properties. There are various methods to synthesise the gold nanoparticles for instance, physical, chemical and green method; with the green method being easy, effective, cheapest, eco-friendly and non-toxic. This method has a major potential to boost large production without using toxic chemicals. Gold nanoparticles are easily synthesised by using plant extract and characterised by several techniques like scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), dynamic light scattering (DLS), and atomic force microscopy (AFM) for the morphology. Size and shape play a crucial role in nanoparticle applications. Some factors affect the synthesis and also effects on size and shape of nanoparticles. The current article aims to review the AuNPs synthesis with different fruits extract and their by-products. Reactions condition involved during synthesis, the concentration of precursor salt and volume of extract used, shape and morphology of resulting nanoparticles and techniques used for characterisation are also discussed.
