Abstract: The aims of this study provide a model for the compensation in project-based organisations in Iran. This study was an applied research and the research method was descriptive survey. The results showed that the causal conditions affecting the motivation of employees as the pivotal group included the areas of characteristics of the project-based organisation, individual factors of human resources, organisational structure, and management factors. The intervening factors also included internal environment of the organisation, extra role behaviours, and psychological contracts, which, considering the underlying factors, including business perspective structure and macro structure of the country, affected the compensation in project-based organisations. Moreover, the proposed strategies were variable payments for the compensation (being shared in some percentage of project earnings, compensation based on performance evaluation and reward payment), prioritising need for respect and self-flourishing and professional employee empowerment that led to positive consequences of improvements in the compensation in organisations.
