Abstract: The control of damping torque of the synchronous machine in the power system is an important factor that may be affected by any transmission line fault, unknown loads or uncertainties and hampers the power system by increasing oscillation of the speed, rotor angle and terminal voltage of the synchronous machine. This paper proposes a high-performance controller to damp out the oscillation of the power system by integrating the linear quadratic Gaussian (LQG) and the integral controller together that ensures high bandwidth and robust performance over the uncertainties. The performance of the proposed controller is compared with the linear quadratic regulator (LQR), LQG, and linear-quadratic-integral (LQI) controller to ensure the effectiveness of the proposed controller. Besides, a level of uncertainty is intentionally added to the system dynamics to check the robust performance of the proposed controller.
