Abstract: Web page recommendation is an approach for suggesting web pages to users based on their past navigational behaviour discovered from their web usage data. The knowledge of the user's behaviour is extracted from the web usage data with the use of any web usage mining technique similar to sequential rule mining. In order to improve web page recommendations, it is required to add semantic knowledge of web pages into the recommendation process. Ontology is a way of knowledge representation, which can be used to express the meaning of web pages in an efficient way. The paper proposes a semi-automatic ontology construction methodology in the context of a web page recommendation system based on web mining techniques. The constructed ontology is evaluated in terms of metrics and is found to be effective. A comparative analysis with the existing approaches was also elaborated.
