Abstract: This paper presents a direct power control (DPC) technique based on instantaneous power theory with optimised PI controllers using a grey wolf optimiser (GWO) algorithm. The method allows to control active and reactive power and to improve the generated power quality. Double second-order generalised integrator with frequency-locked loop (DSOGI-FLL) is performed to ensure the grid synchronisation. New objective functions were defined and the optimisation process is carried using the grey wolf optimiser. A three-phase inverter based grid-connected system was investigated for the simulation. The superiority of the new method was proven by analysing of the different operating modes and conducting a comparative study.
