Special Issue on: "The Internationalization Challenges of Latin American Firms"

This special issue aims to investigate Latin American firms’ internationalization challenges. Studies on export activities, export barriers and export motives of born globals/international new ventures and other types of internationalizers, and also on Latin American firms’ foreign direct investments, international joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions and divestments, are welcome. Articles can be conceptual or based on quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods. Studies based on data from more than one Latin American country are especially welcome.

Suitable topics include, but are not limited, to the following:

• Business opportunities and impediments arising from changes in Latin American firms' economic environment
• Latin American firms' export performance
• Latin American firms' export motives and barriers
• Export promotion programmes of Latin American countries
• Latin American exporters' de- and re-internationalization (foreign market exits and re-entries)
• Born globals established in Latin America
• Other internationalizers established in Latin American countries
• Psychic distance of internationalizing Latin American firms
• The impact of network relationships on Latin American firms' internationalization
• Immigrant and re-migrant entrepreneurship in Latin American countries
• The impact of ownership change on Latin American firms' internationalization
• Foreign direct investments by Latin American firms
• International joint ventures in Latin American countries
• Mergers and acquisitions in Latin American countries
• Factors causing Latin American firms' divestment decisions

Notes for Prospective Authors

Submitted papers should not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. (N.B. Conference papers may only be submitted if the paper has been completely re-written and if appropriate written permissions have been obtained from any copyright holders of the original paper).

All papers are refereed through a peer review process.
