Special Issue on: "Health Engineering and Informatics"
Dr. S. Sophia Benjamin, University of Lugano, Switzerland
Dr. C. Rajan, K. S. Rangasamy College of Technology
Health informatics is a multidisciplinary field that uses health information technology to improve healthcare on its effectiveness, efficiency, timeliness, safety and quality. Health informatics bridges information technology, computer science, statistics, data analytics, management science, systems engineering, social science and other fields to improve the healthcare workflow, enable better clinical processes, support decision making, identify patients risk, and provide information to enhance patient safety and quality.
The goal of this special issue will be to publish the latest research advancement in the convergence of automation technology, biomedical engineering and health informatics. The application scenarios can cover single or multiple scenarios of health engineering such as primary care, preventive care, predictive technologies, hospitalisation, home care, and occupational health. We focus on the cross disciplinary approaches, solutions, and initiatives rather than single disciplinary ones.
Suitable topics include, but are not limited, to the following:
- Health informatics education
- Information technologies for hospital management
- Organisational impacts of health information technologies
- Public health informatics
- Biomedical data mining
- Biomedical pattern recognition
- Disease profiling and personalised treatment
- Display and visualisation of medical data
- Cloud computing and big data for healthcare
- Accessibility and Web-enabled technologies for healthcare
