Special Issue on: "Trends in Mobile and Cloud Computing"

Guest Editor:
Prof. Srikanta Patnaik and Dr. Ajit K. Nayak, SOA University, India

Mobile cloud computing (MCC) at its simplest refers to an infrastructure where both data storage and data processing happen away from mobile devices and are done via powerful and centralised computing platforms located in clouds, which are then accessed over wireless connections based on a thin native client. The resource sharing at different levels results in various cloud avenues such as infrastructure clouds (hardware, IT infrastructure management), software clouds (SaaS focusing on middleware as a service, or traditional CRM as a service), application clouds (application as a service, UML modelling tools as a service, social networks as a service), and business clouds (business processes as a service).

The goal of mobile cloud computing is to share resources among cloud service consumers, cloud partners and cloud vendors in the cloud value chain. Mobile and cloud computing has now become a scalable service in the field of services computing. This special issue will cover various areas of mobile and cloud computing as listed below.
