Abstract: Suppose that the errors of the direction of arrival (DOA) measurements obey same Gaussian distribution for each sensor in the wireless cellular network, the iterative algorithm of maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) is given for locating a user based on direction of arrival (DOA) measurements in the paper. The iterative algorithm of MLE is compared with least squares estimation (LSE) algorithm through a number of simulations at various errors and user coordinates. It is shown that MLE iterative algorithm is less error than LSE algorithm and lower complexity than MLE algorithm.
