How to accept complexity: how to demand simplicity: a holistic view of leadership: a case study
by Margit Raich
International Journal of Learning and Change (IJLC), Vol. 1, No. 2, 2006

Abstract: Leadership is a complex phenomenon. It is characterised by complexity, conflicts and change. Leaders have to deal with unusual problems that cannot always be easily categorised in a quantitative way. For this reason, an in-depth exploration of the values, attitudes, fears, desires and needs of individual agents is needed to generate knowledge about leadership. This knowledge expresses itself in the unique character of an organisation and could help to improve existing leadership behaviour by supporting learning processes, which refer to a change of these behaviours and expectations.
