Special Issue on: "Recent Advances of Utilising Technologies of Solar Energy"

Guest Editor: Xinping Zhou, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, P.R.China
Associate Guest Editors: Ali Benatiallah, University of Mostaganem, Algeria and J.H. Wu, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan

Global warming as a result of the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation has attracted more of the world’s attention since the Stern Review pointed out that the overall costs and risks of climate change could rise up to 20% of GDP or more if no effective action is taken. Therefore, prompt and strong action to develop technologies for utilising clean and renewable energy on a large scale is clearly warranted.

Solar energy is the most source of clean energy free of GHG emission. There are a variety of technologies developed to take advantage of solar energy including power generation (e.g., PV and thermal power generations), heating, drying, cooling, ventilation, etc. Development of the utilising technologies of solar energy focuses on improving the efficiency and reducing the cost.

The objective of this special issue is to provide a platform for interchanging the information on recent advances in the field of utilising technologies of solar energy.
