Special Issue on: "Fuels and Combustion in Engines"- Joint Call for Papers with International Journal of Vehicle Design

Guest Editors:
Dr. Hakan Serhad Soyhan, Sakarya University, Turkey
Prof. Gautam Kalghatgi, Shell Technology Centre, UK
Prof. Cem Sorusbay, Istanbul Technical University, Turkey

Recent standards aim to not only reduce consumption but also lower emissions by using better mixture preparation and combustion control. This requires understanding the chemistry of combustion in detail. Hybrids with a lean-burn process using alternative fuels may combine a combustion engine with electric motors and batteries and may allow the engine to make use of a wide range of fuels such as kerosene, diesel, alcohol, or soy bean oil.

The aim of this special issue is to bring all topics and all the scientific/technological approaches in the fields of “fuels” and “combustion in engines”. Relevant sources of information on alternative fuel vehicles, electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles and personal transportation vehicles, as well as the technologies for fuel economy, are only some of the examples. The Special Issue is open to all submissions, and will also contain selected papers from FCE`09 conference to be held in Istanbul, Turkey, on October 8-9, 2009 (www.fce.sakarya.edu.tr).
